Who Completes It?

  • All NMSU students are expected to complete the RespectEDU module.

Completing the course demonstrates your commitment to helping us maintain a campus that supports safety, respect, and well-being for all Aggies.

Our Commitment

RespectEDU is more than a requirement — it’s a reflection of the community we strive to build together.

By participating, you are helping to ensure that Aggies Respect Aggies and that NMSU remains a campus where every student can learn, grow, and succeed with dignity.

Why It Matters

  • Among college women, 9 out of 10 victims knew the person who assaulted them [1]
  • Over 40% of students experience at least one sexually harassing behavior in college [2]
  • 75% of self-reported perpetrators used alcohol before their most recent assault — and those incidents were more likely to involve rape or attempted rape [3]

These aren’t just numbers — they’re reminders that prevention and support matter. That’s where bystander training comes in.

Bystander Training Works

"Bystander training improves students’ confidence and willingness to step in — and can increase actual helping behaviors."

Supported by national meta-analyses (PubMed)

"Campuses with sustained bystander programs like Green Dot have seen lower rates of harassment and assault."

CDC, multi-campus evaluation summary

"The best results come when bystander training is part of a comprehensive strategy — including clear policies, leadership support, and campus-wide norms change."

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
