At New Mexico State University, we are dedicated to fostering a learning environment where every Aggie feels safe, valued, and respected. The RespectEDU program is a key part of that commitment—equipping students with the tools to make informed, responsible decisions and to contribute to a culture grounded in our Aggie Core Values: Leadership, Excellence, Accountability, Dignity, and Service.
RespectEDU is a prevention-based online course that helps students:
This program is used by hundreds of colleges and universities nationwide and reflects national best practices for student education and prevention.

All NMSU main-campus students are expected to complete the RespectEDU module.
Completing the course demonstrates your commitment to helping us maintain a campus that supports safety, respect, and well-being for all Aggies.
RespectEDU is more than a requirement — it’s a reflection of the community we strive to build together.
By participating, you are helping to ensure that Aggies Respect Aggies and that NMSU remains a campus where every student can learn, grow, and succeed with dignity.
These aren’t just numbers — they’re reminders that prevention and support matter. That’s where bystander training comes in.
"Bystander training improves students’ confidence and willingness to step in — and can increase actual helping behaviors."
"Campuses with sustained bystander programs like Green Dot have seen lower rates of harassment and assault."
"The best results come when bystander training is part of a comprehensive strategy — including clear policies, leadership support, and campus-wide norms change."
RespectEDU is available to all NMSU students.
Current students should have completed the training or have an approved exemption on file.
New students will be provided login information prior to their orientation session for completion as part of their checklist.
NMSU understands that completing RespectEDU may not be appropriate for everyone. Students may request an alternative assignment or exemption for personal, trauma-related, or religious reasons.
To request an exemption:
Al requests are handled with care, empathy, and privacy.
