Dr. Ann C. Goodman

Associate Vice President of Student Development & Dean of Students

Ann is a proud New Mexico State University Alumni (Classes of '86, '87) and former member of the NMSU Women's golf team. Dean Goodman returned to NMSU in 2019 after spending 31 years at Texas A&M University  where she worked to develop best-practice industry processes and policies in the areas of critical incident response; student conduct and investigative models; fraternity & sorority life programs and risk management education, as well as the implementation of student engagement programs. Dean Goodman has a doctorate in Agricultural Leadership Education and Communication from Texas A&M University, a masters degree in Higher Education Administration and bachelor of science degree in Physical Education & Recreation from New Mexico State University.

Will Waller

Senior Associate Dean

Will has worked in the Office of the Dean of Students for the past four years after spending the previous four years in the NMSU Financial Aid Office and 9 years working in the academic programs office in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences. He is a native New Mexican and an NMSU Alumni graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Agriculture Economics and A Masters of Agriculture. Some of Will's projects during his time at NMSU included the development Scholar Dollar$, CAF system and the Aggie Stampede, as well as working as in the interim director of Student Accesibility Services. 

Mr. Waller has primary oversight over Disability Access Services, Student Conduct & Community Development, Student Assistance Services (CARE Team), and department business/financial processes.

Nicki Halopka

Associate Dean of Students
Student Conduct & Community Standards

Nicki Halopka has worked at New Mexico State University for 5 years in Housing and Residential Life before making the move to the Dean of Students Office in June as the Associate Dean of Students for Student Conduct and Community Development.  She has advised several student organizations at NMSU, and is always looking to for ways to engage students in new and exciting ways.  Nicki earned her B.S. degree in History and Peace and Conflict studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and her MAEd in Higher Education Administration at McKendree University.

Director of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs

Dr. Sarah Edwards

Director of Student Involvement and Leadership Programs

Sarah joined the Student Involvement and Leadership programs office in October after working in a variety of roles in Student Activities at Texas A&M University including advising student organizations and programming numerous large scale events, and she is excited to be here at NMSU! Since 2005, Sarah has been utilizing the Clifton StrengthsFinder tool to help individuals and groups shift away from focusing on weaknesses toward leveraging naturally-occurring strengths and talents. She earned her B.S. degree from Georgia Institute of Technology, her M.S. in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Texas A&M University, and her Ph.D. in Higher Education at Azusa Pacific University where she completed her dissertation studying elements of strengths and social norms among collegiate women in leadership.

Assistant Dean of Student Conduct Josh Taylor

Josh Taylor

Assistant Dean of Student Conduct, Conduct Officer

Josh began his career at NMSU during his undergraduate studies as a student employee in the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services. After graduating, Josh joined the Financial Aid Office as full-time staff for several years in various positions. In 2018, Josh joined the Center for Academic Advising and Student Support as an academic advisor where he was able to assist students with various aspects of their educational careers. Josh earned his Bachelor of Criminal Justice degree in 2013 and competed his Master of Criminal Justice degree in 2018. In September 2021, Josh joined the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards where he serves as the Assistant Dean of Students and Academic Conduct Officer.

 

Josh focuses on creating a culture of academic honesty at NMSU by providing support to both faculty and students while also using a restorative justice framework to help students learn how to avoid academic dishonesty instead of only providing punitive sanctions.
